19 November 6 Comments A+ a-

Life is too short to say NO to desserts! Baking cakes, cookies at home during holidays is one of the perfect ways to have fun with family & friends! However, it is tough to find the right alternatives for those with food allergies. Isn't wonderful to have baking mixes & substitutes that are not only gluten-free, dairy-free, wheat-free, but also as tasty & delicious as the regular baking products?! That's exactly, what they do at "Sugar & Spice" market! All of their products are Certified Gluten-free, and Non GMO Project Verified.

About:
"Sugar & Spice" Market is a family owned business, which manufactures gluten free baking mixes and flour. They have a wonderful mission that “gluten free does not have to be taste free” and they take pride in delivering their gluten free flour and baking mixes! These mixes have been specially formulated to provide the texture and flavor that are characteristic of traditional wheat flour baked goods and recipes. All of their current products are certified gluten free, certified kosher, dairy/casein free, soy free, wheat free, peanut free, tree nut free and also has the Non-GMO Project Verification seal.

Personal Experience:
I love finding quick-fixes that saves time in kitchen, but gives the same taste like the recipes that are made from scratch. For this review, "Sugar & Spice" offered me their Gluten Free Yellow Cake Mix and Gluten Free Chocolate Cake Mix. I love chocolate cakes and have them all the time, so i tried the yellow cake mix first.

Preparation:
This cake mix needs very minimal preparation time. Apart from the mix, you need few more ingredients like eggs, milk, butter and vanilla extract. The instructions are clear on the cover and the recipe is so simple and easy to prepare. The cake baked perfectly, in about 30-35 minutes. I did nothing other than mixing the ingredients together, no measurements done while preparing.

Taste:
We do buy gluten-free products sometimes. And I have tasted gluten-free cakes before. They tend to have a mild after-taste which i don't like. But, "Sugar & Spice" tasted delicious & didn't have any after-taste, the yellow cake was very spongy and soft. If someone else had offered me this yellow cake, i wouldn't have identified if it's gluten free or the normal version. This shows the incredible efforts of the brand in bringing out best tasting gluten-free products.

Nobody in my family has problems with gluten, but some family friends of ours do.
